My Father’s Eyes

In anticipation of Ælfled’s* arrival, I thought I’d reacquaint myself with Yarbonél. Here he is with his most intimate friend Llewelys. Both share affection for humans, and human females in particular, which is considered a form of perversion among the firstborn of Alvaheim.

Yarbonél knows that if he shares his grace with Ælfled he will not survive it. Is his faith in Mankind this strong?

* Ælfled is the fourteen-year-old Angle maiden who was brought from the brink of death by Yarbonél, and later became his mate and the mother of his child, Yaret.

Doubts

A friend's comfort

A rebel to the end, he defiantly chooses love

So why do the elves always go for the teenage girls? 😉

A very astute observation! It’s because preteen humans are not mature enough to be worthy mates, and the adult humans are too crude. Don’t forget, an average Alva is slightly smaller than an average human, and significantly more adolescent/androgynous-looking. A fully grown human female would be just too much to handle, not to mention, a bit unattractive. That’s why half-human hybrids like Yaret are taller and more gender-defined than purebred Alva, like Yarbonél and Llewelys.

So how tall is Yaret? He seems pretty tall.

Actually, he is not that tall, about 5’9″ (175 cm), same height as Anna (now, she’s tall for a woman). He seems taller because he looks down his nose at everybody. 😉
